The Real Kailash Is Not Where You Think It Is
The Real Kailash Is Not Where You Think It Is
Sadhguru: Ka means sound, and lasa means dance. Kailasa
refers to a place where sound first danced. That means it is a place where
creation began. Where there is absolute stillness, sound started dancing. That
is the beginning of creation. Modern science has another way of expressing it.
They are saying this universe began with a Big Bang. The Mount Kailash that we
can go to is an imitation – it is not the real thing.
Kailasa refers to a place where sound first danced. That
means it is a place where creation began.
Kailasa is supposed to be Shiva’s abode somewhere else.
Because he came and resided here, this mountain also was called Kailasa or
Kailash. He came to the South and spent about 3 1/2 months in the Velliangiri
mountains, so we call them Kailash of the South. We call any place where he
resides Kailash. The original Kailasa that he came from is a different place.
Where Is Shiva’s Samadhi?
Questioner: Did the Adiyogi dissolve himself into Kailash?
And what about the Saptarishis?
Sadhguru: No, he did not. From what we know, the ones who dissolved into Kailash were three Buddhas, and Rishabanatha. Rishab went there determined to grasp everything, take it down, and share it with the world. But when he tried to grasp, he got grasped. He became one with the mountain. They say similar things happened with two or three Bon[1] masters, and the three Buddhas including Manjushri.
Adiyogi did not leave his body here on this planet.
It might have happened with a few other Yogis as well. There
may have been be many in the course of history, but the Saptarishis were sent
away. They went to different parts of the world. Adiyogi did not leave his body
here on this planet. That much we know. He went back to the real Kailash, not
the one that we call Kailash.
Shiva must have been a little homesick to call that mountain
Kailash, or maybe people around him named it that way. We do not know. But I
think he was homesick because he kept going back quite often. But he could not
take Parvati with him, probably because the transport system was such that the
human body could not take it.

Shiva, the Absent Father
Shiva left Parvati on the banks of Manasarovar and went
away. When Shiva was gone for 12 years at a time, and Parvati felt hopelessly
alone; so she created this boy. The boy grew up to be 11 years old, which means
that Shiva was gone for 12 years. Maybe he could only enter the solar system at
certain times and not at will. He was most likely absent for long periods of
time because whenever he went, it was either for 6 years or 12 years.
The Being Who Was Never Born, Never Died
For some reasons, he could not come back earlier. Shiva had no parentage, no childhood, no old age, and no grave. He is still here in many ways, but as a person, he was here only for a certain time. He came as an adult and left as an adult. If he had died here, they would have made a monument for him. It would have been a very significant thing for the huge following of people that he had even in those times when he was there.
The Mysterious Body Workshop of Manasarovar
Questioner: What was actually happening at Manasarovar, and
where did Parvati go?
Sadhguru: Looking at what has been happening at the workshop
there, it seems like these beings were experimenting with creating something.
Most likely they were creating bodies for themselves, or they were trying to
build human bodies for the beings who were distorted or still floating around.
Either the project is continuing and they may be walking among us, or they
abandoned the project. If something is alive for a million years, it may be a
big thing, or it may be nothing for them – we do not know. Our sense of time
and theirs may be completely different. There are many possibilities. Or it may
be a project to make Parvati into something else to transport her elsewhere.
These beings were experimenting with creating something.
Most likely they were creating bodies for themselves.
We know that different parts of Sati’s body fell down at
different places, but we have not heard what happened to Parvati. So they
probably managed to transport her with them. This is all conjecture. We are
trying to logically arrive at something from the few existing things that we
have seen. We are trying to build a story around that, and whatever stories we
build have to fit into our framework of logic, which may not mean anything at
all.
So, one theory about Manasarovar is that these beings could be responsible for the making of human beings. Another theory is that they were trying to build a future human being. Yet another is that Shiva himself did not have a human form when he came here. He built a human body that was slightly exaggerated.
Shiva’s Purposefully Towering Physical Stature
The scriptures say that when he stood, his head was level
with the head of a horse. And the southern Indian scriptures say he was two
times the height of an average woman. Normally, southern Indian women were five
feet or less at that time. Either it is the mistake of the engineers, or he
wanted a stature that would naturally draw attention, for his work to become
easier. If someone who is nine feet tall came and stood here, you would listen
to him because of his physical stature. He built a personality that worked for
him.
